Big names of Karachi Kings failed out of PSL 6

Defending champions Karachi Kings have been knocked out of the PSL 6 after losing to Peshawar Zalmi in the first element of the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL)

Hazratullah Zazai’s aggressive batting in pursuit of the 176-run target gave the Karachi Kings a great start of 49 runs but after hitting two fours in the same over, Kamran Akmal lost his wicket to Afghan sniper Noor Ahmed.

From the other end, Zazai completed a half-century but Imam-ul-Haq scored just 11 off 17 balls and fell victim to Thisara Perera.  Pereira got the crucial wicket of Zazai in the next over who scored 77 off 38 balls with the help of 5 sixes and 10 fours.  Earlier, in the first eliminator of the league being played in Abu Dhabi, Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and invited the Karachi Kings to bat.Openers Sharjeel Khan and Babar Azam gave their team a good start of 41 runs but then Sharjeel, who scored 26 runs, lost his wicket.

  In the next over, Ameed Asif was caught by Martin Guptill and Kamran Akmal.  Babar formed a 73-run partnership with Danish but due to the pressure of not scoring fast runs, Danish Aziz lost the wicket in an attempt to play a big shot. Babar Azam was seen struggling throughout the innings and could not bat aggressively at any point, he could score only 53 runs off 45 balls.  Pereira showed speed and scored 22 runs in an over by Khalid Usman and played an innings of 37 off 18 balls but Omid Asif kept them going while Chadwick Walton scored only 9 runs. 

In the last overs, the batsmen of Karachi Kings, including Emad Wasim, showed aggressive batting, thanks to which the defending champions scored 175 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated overs. The losing team in yesterday’s match has been eliminated from the tournament while the winning team will face Islamabad United today to make it to the final.
